President’s Track Notes
Captain's log star date 30.3.2026. The big things since last report have been improvements to the management of club property, the Brisbane 4x4 show, a bunch of trips on the trip calendar and the world being set on fire by the orange man child. I'm sure you didn't miss the last one. I pay homage every time I top up our fuel tanks.
Shout out to our trip leaders who have developed trips and got their information to Kel, our trip coordinator. I will be seeing you at the invitation only trip leader’s retreat later this year. Details will be posted soon. If you would like an invite to the retreat, you will be most welcome. Cost of admission is running a trip! There are even some trip ideas for you to choose from – Moreton Island, Styx River, Coffs Harbour, Cangai Bridge Camping, Barrington Tops to name a few. I have reccied all those places and will be happy to assist (or not) with running the trip. If you are ready to contribute to the club by running a trip, please talk to Trip Coordinator Kel (tripco@brisbane4wdclub.org) who will get you started.
On the club property front, the Management Committee formalised an Asset Management Policy in November 2025, rented a storage unit, and put club property in it including marquees, items provided by sponsors and catering equipment. A stocktake will follow. Our aim is to improve reporting on sponsorships and club property at monthly meetings. Next step will be to complete a stocktake (I can hardly wait for that one Viktor).
Big thanks to Rachel and Matt for leading efforts at the Brisbane 4x4 Show, setting up our shop front and organising the roster of volunteers to attend the stand. It is a good opportunity for our club to catch up with peeps from 4wd Queensland, other clubs, club sponsors and potential sponsors. I love it that the weather is cooling down a little now. Prime camping time is here! I hope to see you at our next trip 24 April at Janowen Hills to greet new club members and enjoy a day of driving and catching up.

I recently got to experience a short stay in Darwin with my daughter who lives there now (previous member of the club). To say I am a little jelous of her new back yard is an understatement. She took me to several amazing locations while I visited including Litchfield National Park & Gunn Point where we got to do a little (lol) 4WDing.
