Recap of Last Month – October 2025
Here’s a quick recap of the exciting events and trips we’ve enjoyed over the past month:
- Wreck-ing the Long Weekend: There’s nothing quite like Moreton Island for a long weekend getaway, and King’s Birthday was no exception.
- Big Kart Go Karting: An afternoon of fun at Landsborough for a few rounds of adrenaline-pumping go-kart racing.
- Progressive Dinner @Yarraman Caravan Park: Brilliant new version that suited our camping weekend perfectly – travelling from campsite to campsite, with each group representing a different country
- Manar Park: Easy/Medium/Hard - pick your line. This park has it all

President’s Report No.2
Good morning to you from Little Murray campground at Barrington Tops, an absolutely glorious location. Barrington Tops are sub-alpine perched wetlands, a very unusual arrangement for wetlands! This place would only be improved by nature communing with me a little less. I’m sitting inside the Troopy to write this with a March fly or a black bee (not sure which) orbiting my head.

Last weekend I was at Manar Park 4x4 park on a club trip. It was mid to high 30’s there - warm and a bit dusty. Luckily we had the Boyne River to drive in and wash off in. Some interesting rocky and scrabbly up and down tracks there. Great campground and amenities which we had to ourselves. Worthy of some more exploration.
Our Committee has recently completed our end of financial year reporting for the Australian Tax Office. We have also raised issues with our current insurance arrangements with 4wd Queensland. The delays we experienced during a recent matter caused unnecessary cash flow issues for our Club. The layered arrangements between our club and our insurer were not helpful either. Improvement is needed.
Welcome to Michelle Manton, our new Editor. Thanks for your very effective efforts in collecting reports and getting our club magazines out. Love your work!
We have 60 members registered for our Christmas party at Leyburn for the 5-7 December weekend. This will be a great opportunity to catch up with old and new friends. No doubt Chris and Ruth will turn out a great lunch for us and our Social Coordinator Kel Dunk will keep us entertained. I’m looking forward to seeing you there.
Until then, drive safe and keep well.
