Around the World Progressive Dinner (Yarraman Caravan Park)

Hola from Mexico!

Our October social weekend at Yarraman Caravan Park featured a fun new twist on our traditional Progressive Dinner. Normally, this annual club event sees us travelling from house to house, with one hosting entrée, one the main, and one dessert.

This year, Kelley came up with a brilliant new version that suited our camping weekend perfectly – travelling from campsite to campsite, with each group representing a different country. It worked out incredibly well, and every site went all out with decorations, themed food, and playlists to match the mood.

We kicked things off at our site, representing Mexico. We started around 3 pm with guacamole, salsa, and a five-layer dip served with corn chips to get everyone warmed up. By 4 pm we were serving soft shell tacos, and Aaron had his chilli margaritas on tap flowing freely. Our Mexican playlist set the tone perfectly – upbeat and full of fiesta energy.

Next, we travelled to South Africa at Kat and Jeremy’s site. Their camp looked incredible, decorated like a true African jungle. We all wore safari animal masks, which made for plenty of laughs. They served up boerewors rolls topped with onion and Mrs Balls chutney, and followed it with Springbok shots that went down a little too easily.

From there we headed to Italy at Leanne and Russell’s site, where we were treated to a comforting pasta dish and a lively Italian playlist that could have come straight from a trattoria. Then it was on to Thailand at Peter’s site, where the smell of his stir fry drifted through camp and the soft Thai music made everyone feel relaxed.

After a short break we made our way to America at Cheryl and Steve’s site. They spoiled us with rich choc brownies and pecan pie, washed down with a splash of American Honey Whiskey. Their playlist was pure Americana – country, rock and blues – and had everyone humming along.

Finally, we wrapped up our world tour back home in Australia at Kelley and Robbie’s site, finishing the evening with mini pavlovas under the stars.

By the end of the night, we were all glad we’d skipped lunch – it was a feast. Every site made an amazing effort, and it was great to see so much creativity and teamwork come together.

Aaron and I were thrilled to take out Best Dressed Site for our Mexican theme and won a Uniden handheld radio.

What a fantastic night of food, music and laughter shared with great friends.

Until next time – Salud, Prost, Cheers, and G’day!
