Brisbane 4x4 Show
21st April 2026
By Brenda Marment
Friday morning I arrived just after 8.00am, Matt was already there busily sorting through brochures and flyers and getting the stand looking terrific. Next to arrive was G, Cam, Mark, Robbie and Kelley and last but not least Rachael.
It was a hot day, but not as hot as some previous years, it’s also the quietest day, and that was very true. Around 11.00am Robbie and Kelley went over to the stage area where Robbie was giving a talk about Barrington Tops, with Kelley firing the questions.
We all were watching the skies get darker, at one point it looked like the storm was going to go around us, but Matt was constantly watching the weather apps, and around 3.00pm we decided to call it a day. We packed up the stand and secured everything, then the rains started. We’ll be back tomorrow to do it all again.
Saturday morning I was back again. It was a lot busier and thankfully not as hot. We had quite a few club members come to volunteer their time on the stand (most of the Fridays volunteers) and Marcus, Ryan, Jenn, Rhys, Kerry and quite a few members stopped to say hi including Danny, Tracy, Grizz, Pugs and a few I’ve probably forgotten.
One of the things I love most about these events is the banter and comradery with the other clubs, it doesn’t matter which club you are with, we are all there because of our love of four-wheel driving. After lunch, Rachael and I went off to do some window shopping, ok, to spend some money. There is definitely money in this industry.
I can’t tell you what happened on Sunday or who volunteered at the stand as I wasn’t there. I was at home doing domestic duties, but what I will say, is a big thank you to everyone who gave up some of their precious weekend time to come and represent this wonderful club of ours. A big thank you to Matt and Rachael for organising the event.
Another successful 4x4 Show done and dusted for another year. It’s not as much of a membership drive as what it has been in previous years, however it’s about getting our name out there and in a positive light, and I think as a club we do that very well.
A very big thank you to Robbie and Kelley for putting Sandy on the stand, she was a huge talking point!!
