Patrol v Landcruiser Weekend at The Springs

Patrol v Landcruiser Weekend at The Springs

The never-ending battles of life, Ford v Holden, Jeep v Everything, and then there’s the Patrol v Landcruiser debate. Add in a dash of Lucas sparkle, and voila, you’ve got yourself an epic weekend, which side would win.

It was a very small group of club people who headed out to The Springs for the first ever Patrol v Landcruiser weekend, but that didn’t stop the fun.

The weekend was jam packed with events Lucas had prepared. The playpen had had a facelift, and TRED Hills you almost need floaties now, or at least a snorkel anyway.

Saturday morning started with the Show N Shine, which I am happy to say the Landcruiser’s won. It was then onto the Funkarna Challenge at the Mickey Thompson Test Track/playpen. Each participant paid a small donation, with the money raised going straight to The Harrison Payne Initiative. Sarah from TRED had her trusty bucket collecting each donation, and boy she didn’t miss anyone. There were some bumps, many scratches, a tyre de-bead, a rear window removed in one piece and plenty of bangs, crunches and noises that made you nervous, or the bank account anyway.  It was a fun morning with lots of smiles from drivers and navigators alike.

The next event on the schedule was the Rock Crawl Challenge, followed by a quick lunch, then onto the winch challenge (no cheating involved at all), TRED Knock Out, then finally Beer O’Clock Hill at 4pm. The first three cars up Beer O’Clock Hill made it all the way up to the top, we won’t talk about the others, but most of them gave it a good hot go.

Saturday evening there was a very large auction with some pretty amazing prizes up or grabs. The evening then got loud with DJ EVNS belting out some great tunes with a rather large bonfire nearby. Lucas and Michelle even managed to have a little dance.

The weekend was a huge success for the the park, and unfortunately there could only be one winner, and that winner by only two points was the Patrols. Do better next time Landcruiser’s.

The dates for next years event has already been posted, so keep the

25th - 27th June free if you want a great weekend of friendly car rivalry and head out to The Springs.
